Sant Jordi's day is one of the most important celebrations in Catalonia and it is considered both the day of the book and the Catalan version of Valentine's day. It takes place annually on April the 23rd. Traditionally, men offer women a red rose and, in exchange, they receive a book. The rose, tells the legend, comes from the blood of the dragon Saint George killed to save the princess. The book is the way to remember the death and burial respectively of Miguel de Cervantes and Shakespeare.
